Europol Seizes Millions of Counterfeit Toys
In a joint operation of several European authorities coordinated by Europol, counterfeit puzzle games, figures from well-known television series, video games, plus clothing and accessories from renowned brands have been seized in recent months. According to the authorities, many of the goods seized originate from East Asia and pose health risks including the risk of hearing damage, suffocation, or fire. In addition, the large-scale operation, involving 17 EU Member States and other countries, identified infringements of intellectual property rights and EU declarations of conformity. A total of 18 million euros worth of counterfeits were seized.
Manufacturers can make a valuable contribution to protecting the health of children and adolescents by reliably protecting their products against manipulation.
