Number of Branded Clothing Counterfeits on the Rise
For months now, customs reports have been piling up about seized counterfeits of branded clothing. The range of affected products is wide - from bags and T-shirts to pants and sneakers. According to the German authorities, the latter are among the ‘perennial counterfeit products.’ In June 2022 alone, more than 51,000 counterfeit garments were confiscated.
Nowadays, many counterfeit products look deceptively real and are almost indistinguishable from the originals with the naked eye. For consumers, this can sometimes pose a health risk - for example, if counterfeit garments contain hazardous ingredients. Manufacturers and brand owners should take measures to protect their customers and make their products counterfeit-proof.
